About this deal

And as the story is partly about the relationship amongst the friends, which was painfully strained for much of the book, this made this entry in the series somewhat less enjoyable read.

Primary teaching has always been a huge part of his life and throughout his writing career he is proud never to have lost the ability of running a slick painting table. The dialogue and relationships within this book are wonderful and by the end I felt I was leaving friends. It was a bit long winded but this is a new author and I am curious to see what happens in book three, mainly due to the trio. I spent half my time going backwards trying to figure out who most of these people were and barely any of them were central to the plot. This makes a great light mystery read for fans of the cosy genre and those formerly or currently employed in the UK education system will find plenty familiar within these pages!

I really enjoyed the school setting of the book, and finding out what it is like behind the scenes there.

Retired schoolteachers and amateur sleuths Liz, Pat and Thelma have a brand-new mystery to solve in this witty tale ? This series was inspired by Jon's long-time career as deputy headmaster of a northern primary school.During the day, he can be found getting top-tier press for his clients in outlets such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, CNBC, Fortune and USA Today.

As one by one, careers are ended, marriages destroyed and no one is beyond suspicion, the three friends decide enough is enough. There’s an underlying theme of change that ties in neatly with the ‘under new management’, as the retired ladies struggle to accept difference in the education environment since they were working there and also struggle with changes in their home lives – each of Thelma, Liz and Pat having some version of marital problems going on in the background of their reluctant investigation. Particularly I liked how they were shown to be such good friends yet they keep so much from each other. Our budding Miss Marples are retired teachers who investigate a spate of poison pen letters sent to members of staff at their old school. This mystery finds them, trying to find out who is sending poison pen letters to their friends and neighbours.
