About this deal

Of my four London Walks tours during my week in London, this was my favorite (so far – but I have more in the coming days)! The illustrations on each double page spread are magnificent, and the book is a handy size for carrying with you as you go. A veritable king of London walks, David Fathers produced this walking tour book to compliment his earlier volumes London's Thames Pathway and The Regent's Canal.

From easy walks through Little Chart Forstal's apple orchards to more exhilarating walks in Bedfordshire, there is a walk here for everyone. The Monument is just a few yards down the hill from the Fish Street Hill exit of Monument Tube Station. We are Londoners, and the first thing we think of when we have a free day is going on a London Walk. The routes have details about the city’s architecture and history, so they’re great for learning while you walk. I'm looking forward to when we're able to get out and about again to do more exploring and walking more of the routes in this book.

I recently had the pleasure of going on London Walk’s walk titled “Hidden London with Adam”, and I had a wonderful time thanks to the tour leader, Adam. In two hours you'll learn more, see more, discover more and experience more than you ever thought possible. This photo-rich tour book gives walkers a great taste of London with fascinating tidbits, and even suggests the best time in the week to do each route. With helpful icons, and organised by neighbourhood to help you pick the best spots to spend your time.

He prefers to think of his walks as being more like guided chats and discussions, during which you can interact with your guide and your fellow walkers. You can, therefore, rest assured that you are in capable hands as you enjoy a memorable tour that proceeds at a gentle pace and which leaves behind the busy main roads to venture into the backstreets and hidden places where history was made and where time, well and truly, stands still. The routes will take you around to places that feel untouched by modern times and let you imagine a London of a bygone era. A private London Walk makes a fab present – be it a birthday or anniversary or get-to-know-your-new neighbourhood gift or Christmas present or whatever.

Richard is a published author with over twenty books to his credit, and he is frequently seen on television throughout the World talking about subjects as diverse as Jack the Ripper, Haunted London, The Norman Conquest, Charles Dickens, the history of Halloween, hidden and secret London, the historic pubs of the City and even Harry Potter's London. Ending the list on a great all-rounder, this self-guided walking tour book has it all — easy to follow maps, lots of historical information, refreshment recommendations and great photography. Receiving no public funding, the RA depends on the continuing generosity of our supporters and Friends.
