About this deal

You want her to escape, you invest in this small child and every step closer she gets to freedom, you're cheering her from the pages. The story is excellent but I must admit, the illustrations truly shape the characters and ensure we can see clearly all that is happening. I was reliving, every day, in the first person singular, the collective past of the twentieth century. The Magic Place is fun, fast-paced and very enjoyable, with stunning illustrations, compelling characters and a clever cat named Gilbert. The story takes place against a Victorian backdrop and the grime and darkness of the period is wonderfully captured.

The palatial smugness of Morningside and the smashed-up people of Leith; the lanes where today’s best ideas were written down by men who walked through excrement because Edinburgh was not so big on hygiene. I haven’t yet mentioned probably the funniest part of the story and when you read it you’ll laugh too, several times through the story one little dog gathers up so many more dogs and all they participate in a huge chase. To conclude, “The magic place” began with some engaging chapters which had significant opportunity to create a surprising and original storyline. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. Your words, like your reviews, bring books to life and give them a voice before the front cover is even turned.Grow, that is, not for a long while, and all I had was this beginning, illustrated with a few sketches.

Chris Worley also does a great job filling each page with illustrations to promote reader engagement. The story honestly wasn’t what I was thinking or expecting it was going to be, I really enjoyed it, it had lots of magic, lots of sweetness, lots of sadness and lots of humour too. It would have been better if the Grimbles had their own children they had trained to steal for them .Set within a Victorian-esque backdrop, Clementine seeks for a life beyond the confines of the house she is trapped in, she is looking for a home. Why do they keep the child hidden in a dark and dingy cellar, where she is befriended by Gilbert the mysterious white cat. It’s not the place itself that is neutral of course – every place on earth has a charge – but we are concerned with the chemistry between you and the place.

With the help of a very clever cat, she sets off on an adventure that might just make her dreams come true. De plus, kidnapper une enfant aussi jeune sous-tend qu'ils ont du en prendre soin, mais je ne les vois pas changer des couches, donner le biberon ou lui donner un bain pour ensuite la traiter comme une pestiférée. Beyond the magnificent imagery, it is aunt and uncle Grimble who prove to be the two standout characters of the book.
