About this deal

As it’s the only thing that resides in the box the bag is a bit superfluous but I’m assuming it has its own purpose when the cables are sitting in a bin awaiting their boxception. Now you can enjoy high-quality real time effects processing on your Android device no matter whether it’s from Samsung, Sony, Motorola, LG, HTC, Xiaomi or any other popular manufacturer. And these features all come in handy when iRig UA is plugged into a Samsung Professional Audio compatible device (with Android 5. Aimed at electric guitar users, the device is more applicable to smartphone usage though it will still scale to fit a tablet screen perfectly fine. Was hoping I could retire my old BR-80 but looks like I'll have to keep it until I find a better Android interface.

This cutting-edge on-board processor is a first-of-it’s-kind solution that solves the issue of latency on the Android platform by moving all processing to an external accessory. I believe that the choices are 1-12″, 4-10″ with tweeter (bass cabinet) 4-12″ ala Marshall, 4-12″ ala Boogie and 2-12″.iRig HD 2 will free your mind from the confines of tradition and inspire you to be your creative best.

I was skeptical about this product because I had purchased the original iRig for my Galaxy S6, which did not work at all for me. IK’s product pages don’t do a very good job of explaining the differences between the two, and other retailers’ pages leave out key details and they often have them miscategorized under iOS interfaces.

To the left is the QuickStart guide, to the right is the pamphlet and below both of those is the leaflet. What I mean by that is they are a bit nasal in the upper mids, almost like a speaker is literally in a can. It pairs with AmpliTube UAto deliver jawdropping and absolutely unmatched sonic performance with any smartphone or tablet with Android 4. Only gotcha is that if your phone has a USB-C socket (as most new Android phones do now), you need to get a cable like this one to connect it: https://www. iRig UA features a first-of-its-kind built-in digital signal processor (DSP) that solves the issue of inconsistent OS latency on the Android platform.

The lack of a holster means I have to put the UA somewhere else, such as on a desktop along with the phone, and use a 2M cable. Good product, I love the effects that come for free - great fun for minimal spend, an ideal intro to effects and amps for a beginner, and perfect for a bedroom guitarist like me, but uses a lot of battery power on my Samsung Galaxy Tab, and uses the charge socket, so can't charge and use at the same time. Some mention that it works really well, is very useful, and triggers reliably, while others say that it doesn't work, doesn'T appear to work with other apps, and has latency that makes the device un useable. There are numerous ways to model guitar amplifiers, but for the most part companies like IK Multimedia and Positive Grid study the schematics of an amplifier, and try to recreate the behaviour of each individual component, backing up that process with convolution and impulse response modelling. And because all of the processing is handled on iRig UA, and not on the Android device, it's able to provide consistent near-zero latency performance (down to 2 ms round-trip total latency) that's independent of the make and model of the connected smartphone or tablet. AmpliTube UA features a generous and expandable library of meticulously crafted virtual versions of some of the most coveted gear in music history.

When we say, “a higher level,” we mean you simply won’t find better with this many features and this much value. And, if you register your iRig UA you'll get the bone-shatteringly brutal AmpliTube Metal collection, 25 Gear Credits and T-RackS Classic for free! Ars will have a deep dive looking at the process of guitar modelling, including interviews with some of the industry's biggest names, up in the next few months.

With iRig UA, the most popular mobile digital guitar interface and virtual guitar tone studio have finally landed on Android. Although, when you’re dealing with the fairly limited processing power of a phone or tablet, I imagine some sacrifices have to be made along the way. Thankfully, IK Multimedia—a company known for its AmpliTube modelling software on the desktop and iOS—has stepped in to fill this gap on Android. The left-hand side of the unit itself, features a legend denoting where you plug in your guitar and headphones. They mention that it works on Android without any latency, has no delays from app to amp, and is easy to connect to their Samsung phone.
