Established in 1992, the brand has won many awards and fans worldwide, with rums ranging from three to 21 years of age; and the 15 Year Old proving especially popular. It is initially very sweet, apples, bananas and rum soaked raisins but there are also some bittersweet plum like notes. These tests reveal if there has been a density change in the liquid, which could be the result of additives being present.

Beautifully rounded palate with a great spread of flavours: grilled tropical fruit with smooth woody spice, dried fruit, with interweaving layers of honey, gingerbread and toasty oak. All Eldorado rums are made from molasses obtained from Demerara sugar and the Special Reserve is a blend of rums made in Coofey stills and their wooden pot stills all of which have been aged for at least 15 years. Boasting a warm, radiant amber hue, it offers a complex symphony of flavours, from lush tropical fruits to distinctive notes of spice, honey, and dark chocolate.Some say it has all the rough edges and is a mighty fine sipping rum that is smooth and traditional.

This, however, is certainly my favourite Rum with a bit more of a punch behind it and I suspect this will be a cupboard staple for a number of years for the household.
