About this deal

I understand that he was supposed to be sort of fascinated with her, but it drained the relationship of much passion and made me care less when things went awry, and get more frustrated that he tried to help her.

Having a novel set in Venice all about painting is right up my street, given I love art and Venice is one of my favourite cities. Work is becoming hard to find, the competition from other artists is fierce and Zorzo’s debts are increasing. Winning a commission to paint a portrait of the man’s wife, Sybille, Zorzo thinks he has found a way into the merchant’s favour. In weak parallel, the last few years have taught us that our recent ‘plague’, too, is no respecter of persons nor health status. Anyone that knows me, knows I love all things Italian, especially the food, and the fact that this is set in a place I have always wanted to visit, Venice, made it just that much better.

Little is known about his short life, and few works can be definitively attributed to him, yet the influence of his work was profound during the Renaissance, and far beyond. I've not read anything by Damian Dibben before, but this was one of those books that after a few pages, you know you're in the hands of a very accomplished author. Instead, the story turns into a romance, which is fine, but the romance itself lacks depths only to merge into a greater problem that overshadows the main character in his quest to find this color. He should have either kept the romance out of it (because it made the ending rather hurried) or went more into it. In his new novel, The Colour Storm, Damian Dibben looks at this history and at the enigmatic character of Giorgione to bring us a version of his story that, like Venice itself, it both dramatic and dreamy. You can safely paint your home without any fear of breathing in fumes that are harmful to you or your children.
