About this deal

This means that music from that piece of shit, the band's recent 100th Window, is more difficult to avoid; the anemic IDM drums and imitation- Kid A processed vocals of "Butterfly Caught" sound even worse when sandwiched between relative masterpieces like "Protection" and "Unfinished Sympathy". On both discs the 3 letter abbreviations for each of the songs/ video tracks are running along the inner edge of the disc, with the rest of the disc being pure sliver with no title information on it beside basic copyright information. Disc 2 of this release is an Enhanced CD as the 15th track (the Director's Cut promo video for Live With Me) is video data that can only be played on a computer. La chanson est envoutante, l'ensemble instruments et voix illustre bien le nuage d'angoisse qui enveloppe le couple du film.

The material on this site may not be reproduced, distributed, transmitted, cached or otherwise used, except with the prior written permission of Condé Nast. With my present musical knowledge and tastes, which are certainly greater than the ones of yesterday but lower than the ones of tomorrow, I can honestly say this is the best 'Best Of' compilation I own and have heard so far. Some user-contributed text on this page is available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License; additional terms may apply.A small army of female guest-vocalists are featured (ethereal Fraser, soulfully robust Shara Nelson, wistfully precise Tracey Thorn), but the tracks never lose their dusty menace. It comes in a different packaging to the original Special Edition release and also ditches the DualDisc and instead has two separate discs for CD2 and the Videos (which now comes on a DVD).

But a few inevitable stopovers in bullshit-land don't change the fact that Collected is a pretty incredible set of tracks; the group's fierce, creepy, paranoid fogscapes have aged better than the glassy boutique-music of any of their 90s trip-hop imitators. Shoehorned into one of those two-engine propeller planes, surrounded by screaming kids, snow starting to fall, warnings of turbulence crackling over the loudspeakers, nothing looked good. In this respect, this Gift Pack Edition is a downgrade from the original Special Edition which came with a more complete video package, even though some may find the DVD preferable to the DualDisc format. This CDR contains full length instrumental versions of all 14 tracks found on the Collected album, which were never made available anywhere else or haven't even leaked online to this day. Notes: This version is commonly referred to as the "Japanese Tour Edition" by many online retailers, even though it does not have anything printed on it to indicate so.Notes: A small number of these included a Collected branded notepad and poster as a promotional giveaway. The group has only released four proper albums over the past 15 years: one absolute must-have masterpiece, two excellent long-players of languidly existential mood-music, and one total piece of shit.

On track 10 collaborated in addition: Craig Pruess (conductor [strings], strings [scored by]), John Baggot (keyboards), Gavyn Wright (orchestra leader), Isobel Griffiths (orchestra [fixer]), Louise Jeffery (piano, strings [additional scoring]), and Stuart Gordon (violin). This release was also used to promote Massive Attack's upcoming live appearance at the Summersonic Festival in Toyko and Osaka. The Video Version 2 of Special Cases is the Girl Version as opposed to the Boy Version (Version 1), which was what was on the Special Cases DVD single. Notes: The tracks on this release are all edited snippets of the full songs, which explains the abbreviated duration times. Massive Attack's music brings back memories: not that crazy weekend you piled into a van and drove down to New Orleans for New Year's Eve, but those quiet and isolated instants, images that stuck in your mind for no reason, moments when your life started to feel like a movie.Nicht nur, dass auf diesem Sampler ihre größten Hits "unfinished sympathy" und "teardrop" zu finden sind, sondern auch eine Reihe - vielleicht - eher unbekannterer Lieder. Massive Attack are an English trip hop collective formed in 1988 in Bristol by Robert "3D" Del Naja, Adrian "Tricky" Thaws, Andrew "Mushroom" Vowles and Grant "Daddy G" Marshall. Also, maybe every Best Of's goal should be to contain only good songs and no boring ones, and while I don't think Best Of's always achieve this, I think this one does.

Some editions of this special version, such as the Japanese and Argentinian issues, include, instead of the DualDisc, a second, standard audio CD with the rarities' content of the CD layer of the DualDisc, along with a separate DVD containing the music videos. Much of the older tunes sound remarkably contemporary, which isn't surprising when you consider Massive Attack have always mixed styles in radical, new ways. The one new tune included to entice die-hard fans, the slowly percolating and deeply bluesy "Live With Me," is what soul music will sound like in the future. Another advandtage is the fact that I think the mix of older and more recent tracks is consistent, where with The Prodigy I think the old tracks didn't fit too well for a mix with the more recent ones.Notes: On both discs the 3 letter abbreviations for each of the songs/ video tracks are running along the inner edge of the disc, with the rest of the disc being pure sliver with no title information on it beside basic copyright information. En farfouillant par ci par là, j'ai cru comprendre que ce groupe figurait aussi dans d'autres films. Robert Del Naja sings on tracks 1, 4, and 7, plays keyboards on tracks 3, 5, and 7, and scratches on track 1.
