About this deal

Mixed to a wide range of colours including most major brands, simply enter the name and brand of the colour you would like, or select from the colour palette above to get your perfect colour. The amount of times I have heard a decorator labelling Johnstone’s Aqua satin and gloss as a “brush killer” is unreal. Featuring a low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) content, the Johnstone's Trade Aqua Water Based Satin is environmentally-friendly and contributes to better indoor air quality. This means, although the paint is primarily water-based, it contains an alkyd (or oil) carrier, so it’s a mix of water and oil! Johnstone’s Aqua Satin is an innovative, water based satin finish for use on interior and exterior wood and metal.

Which means you need to have a lot of clean spirit in, to properly clean the brush at the end of every day. An oil-based paint will yellow over time, clean-up is horrendous, there is a long wait in-between coats and they’re not very good for the environment. I really like the products, but there is a nack to using them, which I’ll explain later in my review. Delivering coverage of up to 14m² per litre, this powerful Surface Protection technology paint will not soften or become damaged with the effects of everyday wear and tear.Johnstone’s Aqua satin and gloss will start to yellow and discolour over time, especially in low light conditions. We are a UK based online community of professional decorators, combined across several online platforms. This site is the hub of everything we do, as well as keeping decorators up to date with all the latest news, events and reviews from within the industry.

With it's ability to be colour matched to over 10,000 colours, Johnstone's Trade Aqua Guard Satin is a durable water based satin paint featuring a surface protection technology offering the ultimate defence against scuffs and scratches. PaintWell increased its Industrial Paints offering with the acquisition of Promain UK Limited, the preferred UK distributor for many of the world’s leading paint and surface coatings manufacturers. Any previously painted surfaces should be rubbed down with a fine waterproof abrasive paper and rinsed thoroughly. This isn’t down to the paint being poor quality, but more to do with the decorator not knowing how to apply the product correctly. Before full application of Johnstone's Trade Aqua Satin, all surfaces to be painted should be clean, dry and free from any loose or flaking paint. Whether you are painting doors, skirting boards, window frames, or other surfaces, Johnstone's Trade has the solution for you. It is quicker drying and has low odour, with a tough and durable finish that’s at its best when used over Johnstone’s Trade Aqua Water Based Undercoat. There are only two drawbacks of choosing Aqua Guard over Aqua in my opinion; Johnstone’s Aqua guard cannot be used outside, and it doesn’t come in a gloss finish.

Available in thousands of colours here, it covers around 10-12 square metres per litre, depending on the nature and porosity of the painted surface, and will be recoatable in normal conditions in under six hours. Clean what paint you can from the brush using clean or soapy water, then use one of the three products I’ve just mentioned to finish the job off, dead easy! Johnstone's Trade Aqua Water Based Satin is an innovative finish that's suitable for use on interior and exterior wood and metal, with a look and feel more like a traditional satin finish. For a shinier finish, try using Johnstone’s Trade Aqua Water Based Gloss or Johnstone’s Trade Professional Gloss. HOWEVER, I do worry about it yellowing as it is definitely a hybrid, and therefore also kills your brushes! As a result of this, Johnstone’s Trade Aqua Satin is a water-based paint which is suitable for a wide variety of surfaces, including Iron / Steel, Planed timber, Softwood, Timber, Window frames and many different types of wood too. Johnstones Aqua Water Based Satin in brilliant white provides the same finish as a traditional solvent-based satinwood.

Elevate your painting projects with the Johnstones Trade Aqua Water Based Satin, available at PaintWell, your reliable source for high-quality trade paints. I noticed when it was raining one day that the paint was blistering in spots some came off and some just stayed put. All you need to do is keep a small bucket of water handy on a job and give your brush a little swill out every now and again, simple! The coverage is great, finish fantastic, no sign of any decrease in the finish being outside, the Paint seems to harden off very well, as you say acts like an out and out oil based paint. It’s a lot easier to use, doesn’t kill your paintbrushes, will never discolour, and leaves a gorgeous finish.
