About this deal

I had a few moments of hesitation around camp while downclimbing some boulders to find the perfect spot for lunch, but traction was excellent and the three-point strap system kept me secure. This is a personal preference, and we found the cross strap provided a bit more support during upward movement.

While it doesn't offer quite the same performance as some high-end models, the XLT 2 is a very capable and resilient sandal with a straightforward design. I love the super simple look of my old Teva Original Universal, and less like the look of these ones, but this version do certainly offer more support under the foot. They’re plenty capable for shorter hikes over easy terrain and I found them to excel in the urban environment as well. Aside from the Hurricane XLT 2, there are only two other sandals included in this review that have three independent points of adjustment—and one of them is another Teva. The Hurricane XLT 2 builds upon the original style with some material selections that make for a better ride. For how light it feels on foot, the Hurricane XLT 2 is surprisingly stable in rocky, demanding terrain. What's more is the added neoprene cushion in the heel strap which we find helpful in alleviating chafe when wet and aiding in security during climbs. If you need extra-burly support with maximum stability, the Chaco Z/1 Classic is worth investigating. Quick-dry webbing made from recycled plastic using traceable, verifiable REPREVE® polyester yarn by Unifi® supports your foot and stands up to abuse.

A kids' version of the classic Teva sandal; very easy for kids to get on and off and comfortable to wear. I wouldn’t suggest backpacking in them, but some folks might find them useful as camp shoes, though I prefer something even simpler (and lighter) for that scenario. com doesn’t give footwear a Pick due to the subjectivity of individual people’s feet, the Teva Hurricane XLT 2 sandals are right at home with any Day Hiker, Car Camper, Urban Hiker. It surprised me because the same insoles deal with water quite well, but for some reason the sweat seems to be completely different. If, though, you're willing to spend a bit more, the Bedrock Cairn Adventure provides higher performance with a lower profile that transitions from trail to town more convincingly. The classic Teva has been around for long enough to know that they got something right with their three-strap design. The classic Teva design utilizes three adjustable straps that run behind the heel and twice over the top of the foot for a secure, intuitive fit.

They look decent for any occasion and my wife doesn’t give me glaring looks when I use them with my fancy wool socks. My favorite thing about these sandals has been their ability to perform when wet, and then dry out quickly. After paddling around for about thirty minutes I’d then hop out at the nearest shoreline and hike over to the next lake. The foam midsole doesn't lend the same amount of rigidity as some of the more rugged offerings, but it does cushion well on harder foot strikes. An infinitely versatile sandal, the Hurricane XLT2 is outfitted for grippy traction while keeping you comfortable. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. I did find that there were a few bothersome pressure points, most notably on the forefoot near the pinky.

We use marketing, analytical and functional cookies as well as similar technologies to give you the best experience. The XLT 2 seems to have gotten rid of this issue and I found it comfortable to keep them on the entire day, from the lake to the trail to camp. If you like how Tevas fit but can't compromise on traction, we recommend taking a look at the Chaco Z/1 Classic. During our time in the Grand Mesa, I racked up miles while cruising hiking trails to find a specific spot to use my fly rod, used the Hurricane XLT 2 as my primary shoes for packrafting — a real tricky sport for most footwear — and they served as my “I have to pee and it’s the middle of the night and I don’t want to put on real shoes!

We gave the iconic Hurricane XLT a fresh comfort upgrade, outfitting it with soft heel-strap padding and a new, modern sole featuring even better traction than ever before. But, in my humble opinion, the Teva Hurricane XLT 2 should get universal love for the delightfully soft and supportive straps they use to keep your feet secure. Comfortable, lightweight, and in a range of colours, patterns and designs, there is a pair for everyone!
