About this deal

Though he is supported by Nightingale, Guleed, and Silver, and we see more of the gentle domesticity of his life with Beverly and her growing "bulge", the true bulk of the story has nothing to do with the twins.

As we had a full novella devoted to the Folly's German equivalent with last year's October Man, I am hopeful that we will see Stephen and Mrs Chin again for more adventures of their own, especially now that they are on Agent Reynolds' radar.I’d encourage you to try the first book if you’re unfamiliar with the series, but I’m sad to say that I won’t be reading any more of Rivers of London.

With Peter out of the police force and into the corporate sector, there were a lot of things I found myself missing. Finally, what I liked most about this book is the time Peter and Nightingale get to spend together solving this case. Actually I think I started to lose interest when all the side projects, novellas and graphic novels, began to appear, because I didn’t keep up with them either. Although I love the series there are starting to be too many loose ends, what’s happened to all the magic from the sky gardens, the faceless man although dead just dropped, Lesley not mentioned. A secret that stretches back to Lovelace and Babbage, and forward to the future of artificial intelligence.

I thought the series had been getting stronger right up til the point that the Faceless Man gets shot last book, and was wondering where the series would go. Because pheromones, because beauty, because laughter and joy when she was near and loss and emptiness when she was gone. An ordinary policeman of course when actually he is tracking down a particular magical artefact and the people responsible for it.By completing your purchase, you agree to Audible's Conditions of Use and authorise Audible to charge your designated card or any other card on file.

I will be first to say I love Hitchhiker’s in many forms (excepting the movie, really), but even I found this overkill. And my problem is that I don’t know whether I want to put up with that – whether I can put up with that. I’ve always got a kick out of his dry humor and a healthy dose of self-deprecation and his Millenial-ness (yup, that’s a word, I swear) - but once I think about it there has not been much emotional growth there since the first book in the series. It’s a transitional tale where almost everyone who has ever appeared seemed to pop up or be referenced, in addition to a vast number of new people, new organisations and new places. Rather than sit around, he takes a job with emigre Silicon Valley tech genius Terrence Skinner’s brand new London start up – the Serious Cybernetics Company.Rather than sit around, he takes a job with émigré Silicon Valley tech genius Terrence Skinner's brand new London start up - the Serious Cybernetics Company. And Peter, increasingly friendly with his new co-workers and boss, knows that Johnson’s position allows him and his wife, Stacy, to provide for two foster children. From first-day employees wearing a towel around their heads to Vogon management to a dozen other great London High-Tech Field goodies. Beverly is five months pregnant (with twins, which I had completely forgotten about), and I must admit that Peter, as an expectant father, is pretty cute.
