And that said, I have never seen "Thelma and Louise" (I know, I know, it's on the list), but I've loved "Fletch" and "Speechless" (I still think that movie is underrated) and "Beetlejuice" and "A League of Their Own" and a myriad of other movies that I'm forgetting right now. I liked this, but didn't love it for some reason- it was full of intimate information but somehow never felt intimate. Davis' exploitative, PR-bait regarding her time with Murray, making his Quick Change (1990) is petty and self-serving for the sake of pandering to a particular demographic.

Well, I have one dream role: I’d like to play Eleanor Roosevelt at some point, because she was tall like me, and I know I can look a lot like her.Dying of Politeness is a touching account of one woman’s journey to fight for herself, and ultimately fighting for women all around the globe. A marvellous memoir… an endearing and inspiring account of one “offbeat” woman finding her own voice… I’m often bored by the second half of celebrity memoirs, but Davis’s just keeps building momentum. Bursting with witty, practical advice on the ins and outs of etiquette, from how one should dress for a formal occasion to what behaviour one should adopt while travelling abroad, this guide will help every modern woman to deport herself with confidence in all types of social and public situations. When watching children’s programming, she noticed that boy characters were much more plentiful and got more action-oriented roles. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

Mere seconds went by before affable, everybody-loves-him Bill Murray came raging into the trailer, violently banging the door open. It was so funny, I got the audio and listened to her read it (that is when I heard her mother's voice). Bill Murray has often been seen as an affable guy, but there have been more than a handful of allegations against him over the years.Something’s crossed over in me and I can’t go back,’ says Geena Davis’s Thelma to Susan Sarandon’s Louise.

And unlike some celebrity tell-all memoirs, Davis is circumspect with assigning guilt or blame for the failure of relationships or projects. Some of that self-belief evidently rubbed off; when the film roles dried up in her 40s, Davis took up archery and within a couple of years was ranked 29th in the US Olympic trials. She made Susan Sarandon seem like a total badass and Geena was so effortlessly funny throughout the whole thing.

Any director of worth (à la Christopher Nolan, notorious for starting each shooting day at 7:30am), much less familiar, knows just how critical that first shot can be for the rest of your shooting schedule. In other words, it was all just bit she couldn’t reflect the humor in: Murray exploiting the screaming, megalomaniac-director -trope, in full clown wardrobe …at her expense. The end of the book definitely takes a sad turn as she addresses the declining health and ultimately the death of her parents. I liked how she didn't go into the nitty-gritty details of her failed relationships and affairs -- even the break-up with Renny Harlin that made news in the 90s just got two sentences that made it clear that it wasn't amicable and she wasn't still friends with him the way she was with many of her exes.

Overall an interesting read and makes me want to see some of her movies that I never got to watch such as Thelma and Louise. As a Midwesterner living on the East Coast, I did not realize that Wareham, Massachusetts could so easily be relocated to the Midwest with towns full of easy-going, self-effacing and polite folks. This, like another autobiography I recently read, was very easy to read, and I couldn't have asked for a better narrator. most notably, stars as lead thelma, in thelma and louise—partly thanks to her, we have that beautiful scene of brad pitt shirtless (one of his first acting roles, if not his first).
