Tom Taylor does a lot of comics like this and I think it’s because of his success with stuff like DCeased and Injustice that’s paved the way for books like DC vs Vampires. I was surprised by the ending just because I thought this series was over but it looks like DC will try and milk it further in the future.

It is quite possibly on the level of Samurai Jack level of visual storytelling through action, and I'm loving it. Get really gruesome and tasteless and have a "Capital Punishment" special that has everyone being executed by hanging, electric chair, firing squad, etc. Similarly, the Joker, who in most incarnations is a mass-murdering psychopath, is killed early on only for the vampires to use his persona as a fall guy for their leader.As he realizes what's happening, Nightwing dies -- leaving his killer, the now villainous vampire Batgirl as the new Queen of the Undead.
