About this deal

Considering there’s no shortage of high-quality large, powerful models available right now, we suggest choosing the one that has the most features you're looking for. Although the Boombox 2 is a Bluetooth speaker, it does not support the two best codes: aptX and AAC.

The buzzing sound that we experienced with the previous Boombox when the battery was drained didn’t appear with this unit, so JBL seems to have solved that problem. It can also play stereo content without downmixing it to mono, resulting in a more immersive soundstage. The JBL PartyBox 710 is a better speaker than the JBL Boombox 2, though they have different strengths. We have been using the box for well over a year both indoors and outdoors in the garden with great pleasure. IPX7 waterproof and portable, the powerful Boombox 2 speaker pumps out massive sound all day and all night.

The Boombox 3 produces a noticeably deeper bass than its predecessor and offers a more balanced sound profile overall. The JBL offers a better-balanced soundstage out of the box and can produce a slightly more extended low-bass. That said, the JBL is smaller, more portable, and offers a better-balanced sound profile out-of-the-box. That said, the TREBLAB is a smaller portable speaker that's easier to bring along with you when you're out and about. It can also get louder and can play stereo content without downmixing it to mono, which is more immersive. The sub-bass synth hits that punctuate the beat are powerful, but not as in-your-face as the beefed-up drum loop—this isn't normally the case. On Jay-Z and Kanye West’s “No Church in the Wild,” the kick drum loop receives plenty of high-mid presence, allowing its attack to retain its punchy presence in the mix.

And personally, I think JBL should just get rid of this USB A out port cause most phones these days come included with USB C cables… and you can’t plug in a USB Stick like you can with some other speakers out there. We also share information about your use of our site with our social media, advertising and analytics partners, who may combine it with other information that you’ve provided to them. The Sony is a large party speaker with customizable RGB lights and it can get somewhat louder than the JBL. The Boombox 2 has a more neutral sound profile, and it can get slightly louder with less compression present at max volume. You can pair two devices to it at the same time, which is useful if you want to frequently switch your audio source between your phone and your laptop. The Encore Essential can produce a more extended low-bass with its Bass Boost feature set to 'Deep', and has party features like a mic input with its own gain knob and a customizable RGB light ring.

That doesn’t make the speaker bad — far from it — but it does mean that this is better for newcomers to the Boombox, not existing users. Now looks wise, the boombox 3 now has that huge JBL Logo on the front which I know some people just aren’t a huge fan of… but that’s neither here nor there. Added a comparison to the next generation JBL Boombox 3 in the 'Frequency Response Accuracy', 'Dynamics', and 'Compared To Other Speakers' boxes. It's also smaller than the JBL, and features a wireless charging pad atop it to charge your devices. watt hour battery in it just like the boombox 2 and this is actually a little smaller than the original boombox which has a 74 watt hour battery in it. It gets a touch louder, with slightly less compression at max volume, and has a slightly wider-sounding soundstage, though these slight differences aren't too noticeable.
