It’s not necessarily going to be able to pick up all of the details you might want it to, which does unfortunately raise the question of whether its worth having a dashcam at all. But note that we've had our hands on dash cams that shoot at superior resolutions - Full HD, 2K, Quad HD and 4K. Again, the low resolution reduces the value of this feature, with clear evidence of artefacts including stair-stepping of diagonal lines. That ought to do far more to capture the necessary details than this device, as surprisingly functional as it may be. Please be aware that formatting the SD card will delete all the data on the card, so if you wish to keep any footage, please copy this across before you start the formatting process.

Every video uploaded to the MyNextbase Cloud can be hosted free of charge for 30 days before being deleted, giving you plenty of time to share the video and make sure you can prove you were not at fault. The software has been developed in-house to provide a fully enhanced playback experience, with the inclusion of an updated Google Maps feature, speed information and G-Sensor readings to display all important information that can be passed on to an insurance provider. All aspects revolve around taking footage the Dash Cam has recorded and giving you the freedom to do with it as you please. For recording during the daytime, this Nextbase model is just about passable - you can make out number plates from five to 10 metres away. The Nextbase 112 features a G-force sensor that's meant to save a video clip when the camera detects a crash.

The menu isn’t exactly packed with features, but you do get the ability to bias the auto-exposure up or down by 1 or 2 EV. To benefit from these improvements and updates, please check your Dash Cam's firmware and update it if there is an update available. But if someone rams into your tail light and then speeds off ahead of you then you’ll need to be very lucky to pick up much more than the general colour and shape of their vehicle. Again, there’s not a huge amount of noise or grain; the video is just very dark and you can’t see very much. This isn’t quite as seamless as the magnetic system we see on premium sat-navs such as the TomTom GO 520. Whether that be viewing, editing or sharing it on MyNextbase Player or Connect, or storing and sharing files on the cloud.Unfortunately the Series 2 Rear Cameras will not work with any other devices apart from the ones I have listed above.
